It's Nice to Share

Of the people in this world whose work I admire...the coaches, consultants, experts, professionals and sages...the ones I admire most are the ones that freely encourage people to seek out the knowledge of others that they in turn admire.

No one is an expert at everything.

No one holds the blueprint for the only way to accomplish something.

Everyone has a different perception of or ability to understand the information they're offered.

If you're on a mission to create change in some area of your life, it's wise to seek out information, help and support from others. You'll find knowledge and inspiration by exploring other people's views and experise. You'll run into some information that you don't understand and some people that you don't "click" with...it's to be expected...take what you can use, engage those who inspire you, leave the rest behind and move on. If you're fortunate enough to find a  group or a circle of people who encourage your success by referring you to others, you'll have a better opportunity to acquire knowledge and inspiration in a way that suits you personally. You'll increase your resources and opportunity for success.

Beware the Know-It-Alls who tell you their way is the only way.

Your way is the only way for you. If you want success in any area of your life you'll have to devise a plan that suits the unique individual that is you....and you will likely have to mix and mingle a bit to figure that out, so seek out those that are willing to be a path to new information, helpful resources and alternative views.

For Love or Money ??

If you lose your shirt but have left even one person with a true heart who continues to stand shirtless beside you, you have wealth.

If you're lighting cigars with ten dollar bills but no one cares if you catch on fire, you'd best re-evaluate your portfolio of life.

Relationships first. Without them all the money in the world is meaningless.

Does Positive Thinking Really Have Power?

My vote is no. It's important to have positive thoughts, but just thinking about stuff doesn't make it happen.

The power behind your thoughts is positively the passion behind your thoughts....a desire that can be felt, not just pondererd.

If there is something you want in your life...big or small....it will be the feelings of inspiration and anticipation that will move your thoughts to action - your own action and the action of the world around you. Sometimes those feelings are there and sometimes they aren't....why's that?

Part One, Inspiration, comes from within you....it is tied to your most genuine Self....your Inner Guru. If you don't want something from a point of inspiration, getting it will be a difficult process because it will be driven by what someone else wants for you or what you think the world says you should be. Think about the things you want in your life and start to ask Why? Why do you want more money? Why do you want a different job? Why do you want to find a mate and get married? Why do you want to lose 50 lbs? And after you ask Why?, be prepared to ask Why? of that same desire again...and again...and again...until you get down to the bottom of Why you think you want what you want. If you end up with a Why that's not very personal to you at your core, then it's either not a genuine desire or it's not framed in a genuine way.

Part Two, Anticipation, is your ability to feel that you're going to have the thing your heart desires. You can be all kinds of inspired but if you can't feel the anticipation of what you desire you'll be stuck. Anticipation will come when you allow yourself to believe that you can have something you want. Sometimes previous attempts and failures keep us from anticipation. Lots of times people get mired down in their fear of actually doing or having what they desire and they never get any further. Often people get stopped in their tracks because they don't really believe it's possible to have what they want....and that's just a sign that they need to break down their goal into more manageable bites.

What's the Hold Up?

You know That Thing....That Thing that you keep wanting to do or change or achieve....what's the hold up?

If you haven't done it yet, there can only be a few reasons:
  1. It’s not what you really want at this time
  2. You don't think it's possible for you
  3. You don't know how
  4. You don't have the resources
  5. It's something someone else wants for you
If you identify with (1) or (5), let it go. If you don’t really want to do something, there is no sense in wasting your time…move on to a new topic. If you think you should do something only because you know it’s what someone else wants you to do there is no sense in wasting their time…tell them to move on to a new topic.

If you identify with (2), (3), or (4), then you have a starting point instead of a moving on point. Sometimes initiating change or planning a goal can be overwhelming. Take the reason that you most identify with and drill down….break it down…make it do-able in the right sequence and in small steps and you’ll be on your way.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Beware the Ides of March

Any sentance that starts with the word "Beware" tends to catch our attention, doesn't it? March 15th was a bad day for Julius Caeser. If he had it to do over again what would he have done differently?

It's March 15th....you've got about 10 weeks until the Unofficial Start of Summer. Set your goals. Start now. Chances are you won't be assassinated today. And that's a good thing, right? Make the most of your day. Don't be like Caeser. "The Ides of March have come", said Caeser as he stuck his tongue out at the seer.

"Ay, they have come, but they are not gone", said the seer.

Do something different today than what you had planned.

Help!

Everybody needs some help from time to time. There are some things you can't do on your own, some things that require guidance from someone who knows more, and some things for which you just require some encouragement to keep moving.

No man (or woman) is an island, so promoting good relationships with the people you look to for help is a requirement. The other requirement is to know who to choose when you're needing a partner for a change or to acheive a goal. For some things you'll simply need help...any willing heart or pair of hands will do. For some things, however, you'll need support. What's the difference? A person who can help you responds to your direction. A person who can support you contributes by offering direction to you that they have gained through direct experience.

Let's say you're going to move from your home. You've done it before...you just need some help. First things first when moving - you call whomever you know who has a truck and nothing to do on a Saturday and promise to buy them pizza when you're all done. Your truck friend shows up Saturday morning eager to be of assistance. You ask him to help you load the couch in the truck and he says "I've never moved before...I don't know what to do." (must be the reason he was so eager to work for pizza) So you direct him with the help you need...."just pick up the other end of the couch and walk out the door to the truck with me."

What if you've never moved before, though? Not such a great idea to enlist the help of someone else who's never done it either. Before you ask for help, you need support....information and guidance from someone who is familar by experience....you need a "been there, done that" type of person. You may be able to find support from someone you know. You may need to look outside of your circle for support. The important thing when looking for support is to ask the right questions to ensure that you've found the right resource. Often times support requires an investment. If you pay the wrong person (or business or group) for support only to find out later that they don't have the experience and knowledge to support you, you will be frustrated...and have a lighter wallet. Frustration often leads to abandoning changes or the pursuit of goals. When looking for support, ask questions and get details before you bring someone into your circle and trust them for direction.

Never hire a marriage counselor who's never been married or a dog trainer that's never owned a dog. Either one, though, would be qualified to help you move if they had a truck.

Memorial Day...Are You Ready?

Oh, yeah...it seems like a long way off right now...it's just the first of March. We have to get through Spring Break and Easter....Memorial Day is a world away.

Many in the US look forward to Memorial Day more than some of the other non-denominational holidays. It is, after all, the "official start of summer". It begins a span of time where the kids are out of school, we have sunlight for hours so there's lots of after work and weekend activities to enjoy, many families take a Summer Vacation....and folks (like me) in the MidWest look forward to hot days and warm nights. Memorial Day marks the beginning of expanded possibilities...you know you have until Labor Day to swim, boat, cook out, go to baseball games and race tracks, and just sit on the porch at night and relax.

Building on the thought of You Create Tomorrow Today, how's about you make an agreement with yourself to start creating Memorial Day Today? Make a plan and start acting on it Today...save money for a vacation, get healthier so you can enjoy the summer, lose a little weight so you can make friends with your bathing suit.

The days fly by quickly. You'll no sooner finish the Easter Ham before you'll look up and see the Lazy Days of Summer on the horizon. Decide now how you want to spend those days....put in the thought and effort now....then you can really enjoy being lazy. Start your Memorial Day Project Today.

You Create Tomorrow Today

Yesterday holds no power with which to create…you can’t go back and change it…you can only consider it as you decide what to create Today.

There is only ever Today right in front of you on the work bench waiting to be addressed.

You have this present moment energy to use. Right Now. Today. Will you use your powers for good or evil? Well…most of us average folk won’t use our powers for anything explicitly evil…however, if you’ve been stomping down the same path the past 47 yesterdays and you’re not where you want to be Today, it may feel evil. Just understand that it is not evil that was randomly cast upon you…you created the situation you’re in Today yesterday….or thru a string of yesterdays.

The world responds to the energy that you’re shuffling around Today. You can’t sit on the couch all day Today and get up tomorrow wondering why nothing got done. You can’t eat cupcakes Today and get up tomorrow and wonder why you didn’t lose any weight. You can’t ignore your relationships Today and get up tomorrow and wonder why no one is there for you. You can’t ignore your health Today and wonder why you didn’t get up tomorrow.

Do you want tomorrow to be different?….better get out your tools and start working on Today. You won’t be anywhere different tomorrow if you’re sitting around with your head in yesterday all day Today. You can’t live in the fantasy of tomorrow either because tomorrow doesn’t exist Today.

There’s no way around it….You will wake up tomorrow knee deep in what you created Today. Pay attention. Choose carefully.
